I believe that having the time to explore our troubles in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment can have a really positive impact on our lives. This is why I have chosen to become a counsellor, after ten years in business and a further ten years as a teacher.
I aim to build a trusting relationship with each of my clients and will treat you with care, respect and honesty, whoever you are, whatever your background and whatever your troubles. Each client’s experience is different and I have worked with people with a variety of different troubles, including: depression and anxiety; relationship difficulties, including endings; sexual, physical and emotional abuse; difficult childhood and family experience; low self-esteem; and loss and bereavement and ill-health.
As well as the work I do at Dragonfly, I volunteer at a hospice, where I work with people who are bereaved, patients and relatives of patients. I also work at a charity which offers counselling to survivors of abuse and I love the work I do in both organisations. I have also had experience of counselling University students.
Training and qualifications
I trained to be a counsellor at the University of Chester and, like most counsellors, I continue to train through attending courses and reading widely. I am also constantly on the look out for resources which may be useful to my clients, so if you have any books or other resources which you would recommend, please let me know!
