Often when we are experiencing difficulties, the demands of life continue, giving us little or no time to address our issues. Counselling can offer a pause, by allowing the time and space for you to explore whatever it is that is troubling you.

What is counselling for?

People seek counselling to help with a wide variety of different issues, such as, anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, past abuse, relationship problems, difficult childhood experience, family issues, bereavement and many more.

How can counselling help?

Each counselling session lasts for fifty minutes and this time is your time. You set the agenda, talking through whatever you choose in a non-judgemental, caring and supportive environment. This can help you gain a greater understanding of yourself and your issues which may help you find a way forward which feels right for you, or to feel more settled within yourself or with the issues which have been troubling you.

What areas can I help with?

  • Low mood, depression and anxiety
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Dealing with change and life transitions
  • Issues with relationships, including endings
  • Difficult childhood experience
  • The effects of past abuse (emotional, physical and sexual)
  • Low self-worth and confidence and difficulties asserting self
  • Loss of sense of identity

Who do you work with?

I work with individuals over the age of 16, either face to face, online or over the phone. You choose what suits you best.

Are sessions confidential?

As a client you will be treated with respect and an important part of that is ensuring that whatever you explore in therapy remains confidential. This confidentiality would only be broken in exceptional circumstances, such as if there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others.

How much do sessions cost?

Each session costs £40. I offer a reduced rate for students, NHS staff and those who would struggle to pay this amount. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this.

How many sessions should I have?

Each of us is an individual with individual experiences and issues. Therefore, the number of sessions will vary from person to person. Some people find they have achieved what they want in just a few sessions, whereas others choose to work over a longer period of time.
